The Only Woman Who Spoke at the March on Washington

On this day in history, August 28, 1963 - The Historic March on Washington, Josephine Baker was there as the only woman speaker.  She was wearing her French uniform adorned with the medal of the Legion of Honor when she addressed the crowd. She delivered a moving speech that inspired the mass of people gathered that day.  They responded by screaming dancing and jumping. She had instilled in them a feeling of brotherhood, equality and pride.... It was one of the greatest ovations she had ever received.
